Hotels Near Dal Lake Srinagar: The 4-Star Where SRK Stayed, The Lalit, and How We Choose

Our 18 Sep reels show a 4-star near Dal with carved wooden balconies where, per our caption, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan stayed. We have not named it publicly. Plus The Lalit carousel, Boulevard vs Dalgate vs Nigeen, and how we pick hotels. Bookings from ₹1,500; WhatsApp for property rates.

When guests ask us for hotels near Dal Lake Srinagar, we start with what we actually film. On 18 September 2026 we posted two reels of the same 4-star property beside the lake: carved wooden balconies and pinjrakari lattice on a sand-coloured stone facade, garden chairs on the lawn, and a porte-cochère with more carved wood. Our captions say Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have stayed there. We have not published the hotel's name on Instagram, so we will not invent one here. WhatsApp us if you want that property on your dates.

Watch the opening reels on our Instagram: 4-star near Dal Lake with wooden balconies and garden seating, 18 Sep 2026 and the same facade from the driveway, carved balconies and Bollywood-stay caption, 18 Sep 2026.

A few weeks earlier, on 18 July, we walked The Lalit Grand Palace: columned entrance, halls and gardens overlooking Dal. Below is what those three posts show, how Boulevard, Dalgate and the quieter Nigeen side actually feel, and how we place guests. Our hotel bookings start from ₹1,500 (2026). For any named hotel's room rate on your dates, WhatsApp us.

Hotels near Dal Lake Srinagar at a glance (2026)

Question Our short answer
Where do most hotel guests stay? Boulevard Road for the classic lake front; Dalgate if you want shops and short walks; quieter stretches toward Nigeen if you want fewer horns at night.
Lake-view room? Ask for the room number and a recent photo of that window. "Lake view" and "partial lake view" are not the same.
Our hotel bookings from ₹1,500 (verified hotels and heritage houseboats, budget to 5-star). Starting figure only.
Named hotel rates (incl. the 4-star in our reels, The Lalit) WhatsApp us with dates. We do not publish room rates for pictured properties here.
Winter nights (Nov–Feb) Confirm heating type, hot-water hours and backup power before you pay.

What our 18 September reels show (the unnamed 4-star)

Facade, balconies and garden

The first 18 Sep reel (about 29,000 views) looks up at the hotel from the garden: rows of dark wooden oriel windows with lattice and small pitched roofs, light stone walls, and four garden chairs on the lawn. The caption calls it a "4-star premium property near Dal Lake" with comfortable rooms and a location close to the water. Place tagged: Near Dal Lake, Srinagar.

Driveway and Bollywood stay

The second reel the same afternoon shows the front: a carved wooden porte-cochère, more pinjrakari balconies, a stone jaali screen with potted plants, and Etios standing on the cobbled driveway. Caption: not every hotel in Kashmir can say this, a premium 4-star near Dal where Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have also stayed.

We book this kind of stay when a couple or family wants a proper hotel near the lake (not a houseboat), carved Kashmiri woodwork, and a garden they can sit in after sightseeing. We will give you the name and current rates on WhatsApp once we know your dates and whether you need a lake-facing room.

The Lalit Grand Palace: what our July carousel shows

On 18 July 2026 we posted a 20-slide carousel from The Lalit Grand Palace. One frame walks toward the columned entrance: pale yellow facade, white French doors, stone lion statues on either side of the steps. Others show halls, lawns, a fountain court and garden cottages among the grounds. Place tagged: The Lalit Grand Palace, Srinagar.

Our caption said the palace was originally built in 1910 by Maharaja Pratap Singh of the Dogra dynasty. That checks out. The building was Gulab Bhavan, a Dogra summer residence overlooking Dal; Wikipedia, The Times of India and The Lalit's own Srinagar page all put the start of construction in 1910 under Maharaja Pratap Singh, with later work under Maharaja Hari Singh. It became a hotel in 1956 and has operated as The LaLiT Grand Palace since 2008.

We put guests here when the brief is heritage luxury: big gardens, a sense of the old palace, and a quieter eastern-shore setting off Gupkar rather than the busy Boulevard strip. It sits on the same eastern side of Dal as Nishat and Shalimar, so Mughal garden mornings are a short drive. For a full luxury itinerary around stays like this, see our Kashmir luxury tour package. Room rates for The Lalit: WhatsApp us with your dates. We do not quote a number on this page.

Boulevard vs Dalgate vs the quieter Nigeen side

Hotels near Dal Lake are not one street. This is how we explain the map at our Pantha Chowk desk:

  • Boulevard Road: the classic strip facing the open lake. Shikaras at the ghats, sunset walks, tourist restaurants. You hear more traffic and sellers, but the postcard view is why people come. Our Dal Lake Srinagar guide covers the lake itself.
  • Dalgate / Residency Road side: closer to shops, bakeries and short outings on foot. Lake views are less guaranteed; ask hard about the window. Handy if older parents want fewer long drives between dinner and bed.
  • Quieter Nigeen side: west of the main Dal basins, beside Hari Parbat. Fewer horns at night. More houseboats than big hotels, though some properties sit on that quieter water. We've compared the two lakes in detail in our Nigeen Lake vs Dal Lake post.
  • Eastern shore / Gupkar (The Lalit area): gardens, palace hotels, and the road toward Nishat and Shalimar. Calmer than Boulevard's main tourist stretch, further from Lal Chowk.

For a downtown walking day that still leaves evenings by the water, our downtown Srinagar guide pairs the old city with Dal and Nigeen.

Lake-view rooms, winter heating and parking

Three things we check before we send money to any hotel near Dal:

  1. The actual window. Ask for the room category, the floor and a recent photo from that room. "Lake view" can mean a full sheet of water or a slice between two roofs. Partial lake view is fine if the price matches; just know what you're buying.
  2. Heating for October onwards. Srinagar nights drop fast. Ask whether the room has a bukhari, central heating or only a portable heater, how many hours of hot water you get, and whether the hotel runs on backup power when the grid flickers. Same questions we ask for houseboats in our houseboat price guide.
  3. Parking and the last 50 metres. Boulevard hotels vary: some have their own lot, some use street or valet. If you have a lot of luggage or a wheelchair, ask how far the car stops from the lift. Our private cabs include tolls and parking in the quoted fare; hotel parking charges, if any, are separate and we confirm them when we book.

What "hotels from ₹1,500" means (2026)

Our Google Business Profile lists hotel bookings from ₹1,500: verified hotels and luxury heritage houseboats, from budget deluxe rooms to 5-star mountain resorts. That is a 2026 starting "from" price for the category, not a rate for the 4-star in our September reels, not a rate for The Lalit, and not a promise that every lake-facing room starts there.

What usually moves the quote: season (summer and Christmas week cost more), room category, meal plan, and whether you need a lake view. For the wider trip budget, use our Kashmir trip cost budget guide. WhatsApp us your dates and we'll send options with names, photos and the real number.

How we'd choose for you

  • First trip, want the postcard: Boulevard, mid-range or 4-star, ask for a real lake-facing room.
  • Want carved wood and a garden like our September reels: that unnamed 4-star style of property; we'll name it and check availability on WhatsApp.
  • Heritage luxury and big lawns: The Lalit or a similar palace hotel on the eastern shore.
  • Quiet evenings, still near the water: Nigeen side or a carefully picked Boulevard stretch away from the busiest ghats.
  • Mixing hotel nights with a houseboat: common. One or two nights on the water, the rest in a hotel with easier parking and heating. Tell us which you want first.

FAQ

Which area is best for hotels near Dal Lake Srinagar?

Boulevard if the lake view is the point of the trip. Dalgate if you want to walk to shops. Nigeen or Gupkar if you want quieter nights. We pick after we know who's travelling and how many sightseeing days you have.

Can I get a hotel near Dal Lake on a budget?

Yes. Our bookings start from ₹1,500, and that band includes simpler verified hotels as well as houseboats. Lake-facing rooms in peak season sit higher. Send dates on WhatsApp for a short list.

Is The Lalit Grand Palace on Dal Lake?

It overlooks Dal from the eastern shore (Gupkar area), with gardens and palace buildings rather than a Boulevard ghat doorstep. Our July carousel shows the entrance, halls and grounds.

Do you book the 4-star where Shah Rukh Khan stayed?

Yes, when it fits the dates and budget. We have not named it publicly on the blog or those reels, so message us and we'll confirm the property, category and rate for your stay.
