The road is NH44 from Jammu, through the Banihal stretch, into Srinagar. Leave Jammu in the morning. Night driving on that highway is how delays become a second day. Jammu airport (IXJ) has a short hop to Srinagar on some days. Take it if you want the afternoon in Srinagar and you already hold a seat. Do not assume the hop runs every morning.
A clear daylight run is most of a day, often around eight to ten hours with a meal stop. Landslides, yatra traffic, and winter snow add time. If you cannot leave Jammu by morning, sleep in Jammu and start again. Gulmarg is the next day, not the same evening.
Arrive Srinagar, then the usual valleys. Because you saved the flight, a five-day trip still has room for Gulmarg and a Pahalgam night. During the Amarnath weeks, read the convoy notes before you promise yourself a noon arrival.
Morning NH44, or the IXJ hop if you have a seat. Srinagar hotel. No Gulmarg.
Tangmarg. The highway fatigue stays in yesterday.
Overnight. Betaab early the next morning if you have two nights.
Lake or a rest. The return down NH44 needs daylight, so do not leave Pahalgam at noon and expect Jammu the same night.
Srinagar to Jammu in the morning. Katra only if you asked for it as an extra night.
Most of a day in clear weather. We do not quote a clock time, because the tunnel queue and the weather change it.
Not in a way you should bank on. Ask us for your week. The road is the plan that does not depend on a seat.
The next day, yes. The same afternoon, no.
