Most Katra guests have just finished Vaishno Devi. The Kashmir days should not start with another dawn trek. The highway car is the Jammu to Srinagar taxi.
Katra to Jammu is a short road, under two hours in normal traffic. From Jammu you either continue on NH44 to Srinagar the same morning, or fly Jammu–Srinagar if a seat exists. There is no aircraft from Katra itself. Do not plan a helicopter story onto this page.
Shrine in the morning and Srinagar the same night is only possible if you are off the mountain early and the highway is clear. It is a hard day. The kinder plan is a Jammu night, then a morning start up NH44. Gulmarg waits until you have slept in Srinagar.
Keep the yatra and the valley as two chapters. Finish Katra, drive to Srinagar on its own day, then Gulmarg and a Pahalgam night. If you also need the Amarnath dates, read Srinagar to Baltal and the Pahalgam convoy before you stack them.
Off the shrine, car to Jammu, NH44 if the clock still allows a daylight Srinagar arrival. Otherwise sleep in Jammu.
