Is January a good time to visit Kashmir?

Direct answer: Yes, if you want snow. January and early February are the busiest snow weeks in Gulmarg and the main ski season. Srinagar is cold and can be grey rather than white. Sonmarg and the high passes are not a plan in January, and Pahalgam depends on the road that week. Build one Gulmarg day or night with a spare Srinagar day for weather.

Fog and snow in Srinagar can delay flights, so do not plan a Gulmarg check-in on your arrival afternoon.

What works in January

Yes. January is the core snow month. Gulmarg holds snow; Srinagar is cold and may or may not be white on your dates.

Is Sonmarg open in January?

Usually not as a plan. Roads beyond the lower stretch can close after snow, so we do not build a January trip around Sonmarg.

Can we go to Pahalgam in January?

Sometimes. It depends on the road that week. We check before confirming a Pahalgam night.

Will our flight to Srinagar be on time in January?
