4-day itinerary (4D/3N)

Day 1: Airport, houseboat, shikara

Pickup at SXR (the same service as our Srinagar airport taxi). Check in to a houseboat on Dal Lake. One-hour shikara around sunset past Char Chinar and the lake-side markets. Dinner and the night on the houseboat.

Day 2: Mughal gardens and Shankaracharya

Chashme Shahi and Pari Mahal early, then Nishat and Shalimar along the Boulevard. Afternoon: the road to Shankaracharya, then the stone steps up to the temple for the view over Dal and the city. Dinner and the night at a 3-star hotel.

Day 3: Your day trip

Pick one: Gulmarg (Gondola tickets extra), Sonamarg (road permitting), Doodhpathri or Yusmarg. Ponies and local union taxis at these spots are paid there. Back in Srinagar for dinner and the hotel night.

Day 4: Old city, fly

Hazratbal on the Dal shore, Jamia Masjid and Khanqah-e-Moula by the Jhelum, a bakery stop for kulcha and girda, then the airport drop. Early flight? We fit the old city into Day 1 or Day 2 instead.

Picking the day trip

Gulmarg: snow from December to March, the Gondola all year. Car-only fare: Srinagar to Gulmarg taxi fare. Want a night up there? Take the Gulmarg tour package.

Tips from our Srinagar desk

Agree the shikara duration before you sit down. An hour is an hour; the vendor boats that pull up alongside add to it. Longer rides are on our shikara booking page.
Gardens are busiest from late morning. Go to Chashme Shahi and Pari Mahal first thing, Shalimar last.
Mosques and shrines in the old city: cover shoulders and legs, carry a scarf, and ask before photographing people.
Tulip garden (around April): go on a weekday morning. Weekends are packed.

What does the ₹12,999 Srinagar package include?

Per person for two people sharing a room: 1 houseboat night and 2 nights in a 3-star Srinagar hotel, breakfast and dinner, a private Toyota Etios with tolls and parking included, airport pickup and drop, a 1-hour shikara, city sightseeing, one day trip and 5% GST.

Which day trip from Srinagar should we pick?

Gulmarg for snow (December to March) or the Gondola; Sonamarg for glacier views when the road is open; Doodhpathri or Yusmarg for quiet meadows. Pahalgam is too long for a day trip, so it has its own package with two nights there.

Is one night on a houseboat enough?

For most guests, yes. One night gives you the evening shikara, the quiet after dark and breakfast on the deck. After that a hotel is more practical for early starts and, in winter, steady heating.

How much more does it cost in peak season?

Add ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 per person from April to June (tulip season included) and over Christmas and New Year, when Srinagar hotels and houseboats fill up. The exact figure depends on your dates.

What does a family of four pay?
