People search “hot air balloon in Srinagar” and get a brochure that promises a flight every dawn. The real constraint is wind. Early. The operator wants the air before the day’s breeze. Spring and autumn mornings are the weeks we see slots offered. Winter wind and a summer gust both cancel it. We book the seat only after your Srinagar dates are fixed, and we keep a lake morning as the backup so a cancellation is not an empty day.
A Srinagar taxi picks you up from the hotel or houseboat while it is still dark. The field is on the city side, not up the Tangmarg road and not in Pahalgam. Tell us the hotel name the night before. A couple who want to sleep in should skip this and take a shikara instead.

Families can join if the operator’s age and weight rules allow it. If anyone in your group dislikes heights or early starts, a sunrise shikara on Dal Lake gives you the same light without leaving the water.
