Summer and early autumn, after the road toward Zoji La has opened. Winter closures are normal. We check the week you travel. We do not print a calendar date for the opening.
Drive from Srinagar, stop in the valley, and walk toward Thajiwas if the path is open and you are comfortable on a short rough track. Ponies there are paid at the stand. Then drive back. We do not hold a Sonmarg hotel on the 5-day or 7-day routes.
