How should you order Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg?

Why start with a Srinagar night?

Srinagar airport (SXR) is the arrival. A houseboat or a Boulevard hotel means the first evening is a shikara or a walk, not a two-hour transfer in the dark. We pick up at the airport and, if you are on the lake, finish by shikara from a ghat. Details are on the Srinagar guide and the shikara booking page. Nigeen is the quieter lake if Dal feels busy. That choice is a stay decision, not a second sightseeing day.

When should Gulmarg sit in the trip?

The day after arrival, or as its own night if you want sunrise on the meadow. The road runs out through Tangmarg. Traffic stacks there on holiday mornings, so a 8 am leave from Srinagar beats a late start. Gondola tickets are a separate booking. How many nights does Pahalgam need?

One night is the minimum if you want Betaab or Aru without watching the clock. Two nights if the Lidder morning matters more than another Srinagar museum. The town cabs that go to the valleys are often a local union car, not the Etios that brought you from Srinagar. We say that before you arrive so it is not a surprise at the taxi stand. Where does Sonmarg fit?

Sonmarg is a long day from Srinagar toward the Zojila side, with Thajiwas as the short walk most couples actually do. On a five-day first trip we usually leave it off and keep the pace kind. On seven days it can replace a second Srinagar day, in season, when the road is open. The Sonmarg guide covers the glacier and Zero Point. Do not chain it to Gulmarg. You would cross Srinagar twice.

What does a simple five-day order look like?

Night 1 Srinagar, on the water if you want it. Day 2 Gulmarg, back to Srinagar or on to a Gulmarg hotel. Day 3 drive to Pahalgam and sleep there. Day 4 a valley morning, then Srinagar. Day 5 airport, with a buffer when winter roads are slow. That is the bones of the couples package and the 5-day itinerary. Seven days adds a free morning and, in season, Sonmarg or a second Pahalgam night.
