Agencies ask for an advance because your hotel, houseboat and car have to be booked and held for your dates before you arrive, and those bookings are paid ahead. We take a 20% advance and you pay the balance after you arrive in Kashmir. Pay only a registered agency, get the hotel names and inclusions in writing first, and keep the receipt.
Book one houseboat night for the lake, the carved interiors and a shikara from the gangway, and keep your other Srinagar nights in a hotel for late arrivals, early valley drives and solid ground.
