On the meadow the grass had already gone gold-brown at the edges, and Apharwat held a thin white line that was not there in June. They walked more than they rode. Srinagar on the same tables sits near 23.0°C max and 6.2°C min. That gap is why couples feel they packed for two seasons on one day. Leave the city in a soft sweater. Add fleece and a wind shell before you step onto the meadow. Wind on the open grass makes the phone temperature feel optimistic.

Does Gulmarg get snow in October?
Honest answer from the ground: do not book Gulmarg in October as a snow holiday for two.
- The meadow itself usually stays walkable grass or straw-gold through most of the month.
- Higher ridges and the upper gondola side have a better chance of a light dusting when a western disturbance cools the air, more often toward month end.
- Early snow on the tops in some seasons does not mean you will walk in powder at hotel level.

Gulmarg temperature in October: how we dress a couple for the day
Think in layers, not a single heavy coat.
- Base: soft full sleeves you can wear in the car.
- Mid: fleece or light wool for the meadow walk.

Midday: gondola only if both of you want the height
Phase 1 to Kongdoori is the usual couple choice when skies are open. Phase 2 toward Apharwat is colder, more weather-sensitive, and not worth forcing if cloud sits on the ridge.
