Planning a Kashmir trip from Ahmedabad? Start with the people who've already done it with us. In the first week of August 2026 our founder Zahid Majeed was in Gujarat for TTF Ahmedabad, and the reels from those days show him giving a gift from Kashmir to an 11-year-old follower, thanking a Gujarati guest who started as a client and became a friend, and swapping gifts with guests who had booked their Kashmir trip with us. What our Gujarat reels show
The first reel, posted on 5 August, is captioned "GUJARAT, I'M HERE!" Zahid was meeting one of our followers that day with gifts from Kashmir, and asked people to comment their city: Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara. That evening's reel thanks everyone for more than 200 comments and asks Gujarat for its own tips on places, food and hotels.
On 6 August we went live from our stall at TTF Ahmedabad: "Kem Cho Gujarat? Aavo, maliye TTF Ahmedabad ma!" The same day one of Zahid's youngest followers, just 11, came to meet him, and he gave her the gift he'd promised. His caption: "Mere liye followers sirf numbers nahi, ek family hain."
Another 6 August reel thanks a Gujarati guest who was first a client and is now a good friend, signing off with "Gujarat, tamaro khub khub aabhar!" On 7 August, guests who had booked their Kashmir trip with us came specially to meet him in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, and they exchanged gifts. "Ye sirf hamare guest nahi hain, balki ab family ka hissa ban chuke hain," he wrote.

What a Gujarati group told us after Gurez
Zahid tells this one himself:
This spring Jeetu bhai brought us a big Gujarati family group: men, women, kids, luggage tied on the roof of the car. When I caught up with them they had just come back from Gurez, where they'd seen snow actually falling that day, for the first time in their lives. So I took out the mic.
The whole group chanted "We love Kashmir!" How was Kashmir? "Very good! Extremely good!" Would they tell other Gujaratis to come? "Yes, definitely!" One of the ladies, in pink, put it simply: "Zaroor aana chahiye!" (You must come.) One of the men said he loved all of it, "but one should especially visit Gurez, it's a very good place." The snow? "Saw it for the first time!" And when I asked about the hotels and the vehicles: "Absolutely good. Traveletios has done a very good job." (Their words, translated from Hindi.)
The useful bit for you: Gurez can still get fresh snow in April and May. If seeing snow fall is the dream and your dates are in spring, ask us about adding Gurez. It's a long drive from Srinagar over Razdan Pass, which can shut after heavy snow, so we plan it with a spare day. How to reach Srinagar from Ahmedabad
By air
IndiGo's non-stop leaves Ahmedabad in the morning about six days a week and takes roughly 2 hours 15 minutes (schedule checked 26 September 2026). That's the one we'd book. Its current timetable runs to 24 October, so for winter dates check it's still flying; otherwise connect via Delhi. We can book it for you. Land in the morning and you still get the afternoon in Srinagar: our airport taxi starts from ₹1,200 (2026).
By train
The daily Ahmedabad to Jammu Tawi Express takes about 32 hours and gets in the evening. Sleep in Jammu, then take the morning Vande Bharat to Srinagar via Katra and Banihal (under five hours, not every day, so check IRCTC). Families doing Vaishno Devi break the journey at Katra. Best time for a Kashmir trip from Gujarat
- April to June: spring into early summer, just when Ahmedabad is at its hottest. Our busiest stretch, so book early. In April and May, Gurez can still surprise you with snow.
- July and August: the Amarnath Yatra runs from the Pahalgam side and Pahalgam gets busier. We plan around it.
- September and October: our favourite: dry days, chinars turning. This year our reel caught the first snow on Gulmarg Phase 2 on 17 September. More in our Kashmir in October guide.
- November, Diwali holidays: clear days, cold nights. Bring real jackets.
- December to February: snow in Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg. Read our Kashmir snowfall guide first.
Mountain weather is never guaranteed, in any month.
A sample 6-night route
- Day 1, Srinagar houseboat. Dal Lake houseboat (our bookings start from ₹2,500) and an evening shikara (from ₹800). Up before sunrise? Our 28 July reel shows the floating vegetable market.
- Day 2, Sonamarg day trip. Thajiwas and the meadow. The Z-Morh tunnel (opened January 2025) keeps Sonamarg open year-round, but heavy snow can still stop traffic, so we check the road that morning.
- Day 3, Gulmarg. Our Srinagar to Gulmarg cab starts from ₹2,500 (2026). Buy Gondola tickets only on the official J&K Cable Car Corporation site; our Gondola booking page explains how. Night in Gulmarg.
- Day 4, to Pahalgam. A long drive back through Srinagar, with a stop at the Avantipur ruins. Our Srinagar to Pahalgam cab starts from ₹2,500 (2026); the Gulmarg to Pahalgam leg is quoted separately.
- Day 5, Pahalgam valleys. Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari run on Pahalgam union vehicles, a separate cost. Baisaran is closed until the end of 2026, so it isn't on our routes. See our Pahalgam travel guide.
- Day 6, back to Srinagar. Mughal gardens in the afternoon, night in Srinagar, so there's no early dash from Pahalgam on Day 7.
Only 5 nights? Do Gulmarg as a day trip. In spring, think about swapping Sonamarg for Gurez. Either way, keep Gulmarg mid-trip, never the last day, so one cloudy morning doesn't cost you the Gondola. For a route like this we usually quote one sightseeing cab for the whole trip (from ₹2,500, 2026) rather than separate transfers.
Vegetarian food in Kashmir
Wazwan, the dish Kashmir is known for, is mostly lamb (our Wazwan guide explains it). Kashmiri home cooking, though, has plenty of vegetarian dishes: nadru yakhni (lotus stem in yogurt), dum aloo, haak (collard greens), rajma and chaman (paneer). Kahwa is vegetarian too.
What matters is the kitchen where you stay. Tell us you're pure vegetarian, or need Jain food (no onion, garlic or root vegetables), when you book. We arrange pure-veg and Jain meals on request and confirm it stay by stay, because what one kitchen manages in Srinagar another may not in Gulmarg. For Sonamarg and Gulmarg days, pack thepla or khakhra.

How we'd plan it for a Gujarati family
- Book the non-stop as soon as dates are fixed, especially for May, June and Diwali.

- Carry a warm layer even in May. Gulmarg and Sonamarg are far colder than Srinagar.
